The final in Deepa Mehta’s ‘elements’ trilogy, the other two being Fire and Earth, Water is set in Varanasi in the year 1938 and portrays the plight of widows at that time. Written by Anurag Kashyap, the film also raises the evil of child marriage through Chuyia (Sarala Kariyawasam), a seven-year-old girl and other injustices which widows were forced to undergo after being abandoned by their families.

An amazing work from Studio Ghibli, a Japanese animation film studio based in Tokyo and written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki in 1988, the film comes with an invaluable message. The two young daughters of a professer visit their ailing mother in a village and are visited by the friendly wood spirits of the nearby forest. The love for Nature exhibited by the sisters is touching and their courage and conviction to protect the same is aimed at encouraging young minds to do the same.
Dom Cobb (Leonardo Dicaprio) is a skilled thief in the art of extraction of secrets from the subconscious minds of his targets in their dream state. This drives him to corporate espionage. He is offered his normal life as a payment for his last job, the job being inception — implanting a new idea into the target’s mind. The story revolves around the attempts of Cobb and his crew to accomplish the given task. The film is a winner of many awards including Oscars.
