Norway loves Tamil cinema

The upcoming Norway Tamil Film Festival 2015 (NTTF 2015) will see a mix of feature films, short films and documentaries being screened in the country. “This year, the selection committee received feature films, short films, music videos, animation films, and documentaries — all in Tamil — from at least eight countries. So, we have opened a new category named NTFF World Cinema — Other Language award,” informs Vaseeharan Sivalingam, festival director. Notable among the nominees for the different sections are Jigarthanda (feature film), Uyirvarai Inththaai (world Tamil cinema) and Kannadi Bommaigal (documentary). “All the categories and film titles are available on our website, www.ntff.no,” he adds. The festival will be held at Lorenskog, Norway from April 23 to 26.

Vishal plays a cop again

Director Suseenthiran’s next outing with Vishal, after their earlier success, Pandiya Naadu , sees the actor playing a cop’s role. Tentatively titled Vishal 19 , the film retains the entire production team of their previous collaboration, with an addition in Velraj, the cinematographer. An excited Vishal says, “After I heard Suseenthiran’s script and the narration of my character, I had little hesitation in doing the film. In my previous roles as a cop, I played characters that were very family-oriented. This film will be totally different as Suseenthiran is attempting a new genre in his career. The film, set in the backdrop of Madurai, will be refreshing for viewers.”
