Everyone expected Rashi Khanna’s next film post Madras Café to be with a happening director in Bollywood but the actor surprised all by signing a film to be directed by Srinivasa Avasarala. Her co-star is Naga Shourya, who is one film old. The actor is excited and has another reason to celebrate. “My elder brother who is in the Merchant Navy is getting married on October 9; after the festivities I will be joining the unit and they are obviously waiting for me to be in Hyderabad,” she reveals. Rashi has been into Western singing earlier, but declares hopefully that she might sing a number in her debut Telugu film.
Leaning towards creativity
The pretty girl from Pyar Ka Panchnama in all possibility will be reprising the role of Jiah Khan in Bol Bollwood. “I was offered Bol Bollywood which is taking off in November. I refused it initially but it came back to me, it’s being reconsidered right now. It’s premature to comment on it.” Hailing from a business family, she has done her Masters abroad and is also a model. She trained in belly dancing as well as social dancing. She says that though everyone assumed she would join her father in his business, she always had a creative side; so within a few months of modelling, she was offered Pyar Ka Panchnama as the lead. “We were sceptical but it did well. Age was on my side and I felt I should wait for the right film next. Pyar Ka Punchanama Reloaded is on the anvil, obviously it a sequel.”
Cautious steps
Eesha terms the success of Anthaka Mundhu Aa Taruvatha as a humbling experience and she is in no hurry to sign films. “I didn’t sign any new project and am just spending time listening to stories. I still need to get clarity on a few subjects. I also thought that after the release of my debut film I should be very careful in selecting subjects. I know I might not be lucky enough to get such a meaty role but I insist that despite the length being short in next few films, what I do should make an impact.” So is she all set to run around trees? “Actually I can dance, and did some rehearsals for Indraganti’s film but he changed it as he felt it wasn’t necessary,” she signs off.
Image change
Aadi’s previous film was Sukumarudu which meant someone who is delicate and soft skinned/hearted and now his new movie which is releasing in December has been titled Rough which has exactly the opposite meaning. Was it planned? “Not really, it’s a co-incidence. But the title will bring out the two shades in character that I portray. I am leaving to Switzerland for a song shoot and am excited about the music composed by Mani Sharma. It will be a huge plus for the story,” he quips. Rough has Aadi playing an orphan and pitted opposite the heroine’s brother; it is not entirely mass but his character apparently has a cute but a rough edge. Ravi C Kumar directs his next project.
