Biju Menon continues to rediscover himself as an actor. After surprising just about everyone with his ease at comedy, he hit the box office jackpot with comedy caper Vellimoonga (2014), in which he had the starring role. And now, he is all set to surprise us once again, playing the father of Asi Ali in Anuraga Karikkin Vellam .

Biju says he had no qualms about playing the father of a young hero, something most actors of his ilk would balk at. “I liked the concept of Anuraga Karikkin Vellam when it was narrated to me by debutant director Khalid Rahman. It did not bother me at all that I would be playing the father of Asif. I am not concerned about the age of the character or the length of my role in a film. What matters is its quality,” says Biju.

He is playing a cop, Raghu, in Anuraga Karikkin Vellam . “He works as an assistant sub inspector in the Traffic Department. My father also used to work in the Police, so playing Raghu in the film made me a feel a bit nostalgic,” he says.

There was another reason to feel nostalgic for Biju. He is paired with Asha Sharreth, with whom he had made his acting debut, on television, a couple of decades ago. “We had worked together in the serial ‘Mikhayelinte Santhathikal’ on Doordarshan. It is the first time that I am acting with her after that. Both of us have a come long way as actors since those days,” he says.

About Anuraga Karikkin Vellam , Biju says that it is an honest, light-hearted film. “It is about relationships in the family. It is film that everyone can watch. I enjoyed acting in it. I believe it is another role that helps me grow further as an actor,” he says.
