Thoodhuvan

What it is about…

Pioneer Movies' Thoodhuvan is produced by Sankararaman and the story, screenplay, dialogue and direction are by Mohan Roop. Sajith Chandra and Thozhan are the music director and lyricist, respectively. The film is edited by P. Sai Suresh. Dilip Raman is the cinematographer. Adithya, Gowri and Archana play the three lead roles, with Gopikrishna, Nikil, Kovai Senthil and Malar Madhi.

Music highlights

There are eight songs in the album, and each one is tinged with a little bit of sadness. ‘Vanna Nila Ondru' is possibly the best song, made magical by Vijay, while ‘Bhoomiyil Nallavan' sung by M.L.R. Karthikeyan is also very pleasant. ‘Engo Pirandhom' is an interesting song by Srikumar, Deeksha Iyer and Padhmakshi Iyer.

The other songs are equally melodious, from ‘Pudhusa Solaikiligal' sung by Deepa Mariam and Uyiril Nuzhandhu' sung by Srikumar to ‘Kanum Ulagamellam' sung by V. M. Mahalingam, and ‘Nan Indha Boomiyil' and ‘Mazhaikala Megangal' by Prasanna.

What they say

Producer Sankararaman: I am a businessman from Kerala. One evening, director Mohan Roop narrated a story that I liked a lot, and I decided to produce it. It's a bold and different story and I asked the director to make the film just like the script.

Director Mohan Roop: I have done eight films in Malayalam, including Vettah with Mammooty, Mohanlal and Srinivasan. Thoodhuvan is my first Tamil movie. It tells the story of the neglected and homeless community of rag-pickers. I have filmed the story entertainingly but also with a message.

Hero Adithya: I have studied music and was working as a music teacher when Thoodhuvan happened. I am now acting in Signal, a Malayalam film, and Sollamattein, another Tamil one. In Thoodhuvan , I play a physically challenged person in the lead role.

Music director Sajith Sandra: I am basically a keyboard player and programmer, and I've worked with some of the best music directors. I have composed many jingles and the title song for around 12 Malayalam TV serials. Thoodhuvan is my first Tamil film.
