Music highlights

There are five songs in the album. ‘Rotti Rotti Sukka Rooti’ sung by Krishnaraj and Charulathamani is pleasant, while ‘Mancha Marutham Konjam Maruthe’ sung by Madhubalakrishnan leaves an impact. ‘Konjum Salangaiye Konjam’ sung by Sainthavi has a classical touch. ‘Munthi Oru Kalathile’ sung by Gopal Sharma, with the music director and the director of the film providing the other voices, passes muster, while ‘Nila Nila Vayen’, sung by Ajis and Renu, wraps up the album.

Producer P. S. Karunanidhi: I am a businessman, owning a jewellery shop, a theatre and a marriage hall, in Rasipuram. As I was interested in movies, I produced Chinna Kalai in 1993. I’m producing Kala Petty after a long gap, along with five friends. When Aswin Balajee told me about the director, I called him and asked him to narrate the story, which I liked. He was asked to go ahead with the shoot and we are happy the film has shaped up well.

Director RaRa: I am a writer with films such as Chandron and Oonan to my credit. When I was able to attract a producer for my maiden film, I decided it would be shot in and around Salem District. Fortunately for me, my producer happened to be from Rasipuram. So we shot the film in his hometown. We are ready with the first copy of the film and the producer is satisfied with it.

Hero Aswin Balajee: I came to Chennai to make it big as an actor. Due to various reasons I became a production executive instead and worked for K. Balachander, Kamal Haasan and Thenappan. For the first time, I’ve landed a hero’s role. Writer-director RaRa is sure to win accolades for his screenplay.

Music director Sabesh Murali: We have scored the music for some of the best Tamil films. This is our thirtieth film in Tamil. We has also done the RR for over 20 films. Kalla Petty has some good songs. The director created suitable situations for which we were able to score the right music. We recently saw the first copy and are happy with it.
