What it is about…
The audio of City Lights Entertainment's Aayiram Muthangaludan Thenmozhi, produced by Anand, was recently released by actor Sneha and the first CD was received by directors Cheran and Ameer. The film has Venkatesh and Akshara in the lead along with 71 other new faces. Edited by Xian, the film has Joshi and Saravanan as the cameramen. The music is composed by Tajnoor and the art is taken care of by Joseph Babin. The story, screenplay, dialogue and direction are by Shanmugaraj.
‘Satham Sathamindri,' sung by Swetha and written by Tharangai Surya, and ‘Karaikkal,' written by the director himself and sung by Harish Iyer and Hemambika, are good. ‘Palodu Thaen Sera' bears testimony to Yugabharathi's skill as a lyricist — he has used 16 couplets from the Tirukkural (Kamathupal) to write the sensuous song. Sung by Raheeb Aalam and Rajalakshmi, this number's background music is essentially classical. ‘Dan Dan Dan,' sung by Velmurugan, Ananthu and A. R. Rehanna, is interspered with mimicry — Senthil imitating MGR, M. R. Radha and Rajinikanth. This song is written by Gnanakaravel. ‘Un Peyer Enna,' written by Uvari Sukumar and sung by Niwas, is interesting, while ‘My Dear Purusha' is a fine number written by Eknath and sung by Ananthu, Priyadarshini and Shanmugaraj. ‘Theendatha Theeyai' is a beautiful duet by Karthik and Padmalatha and it is written by Gnanakaravel.
What they say…
Producer Anand: Director Shanmugaraj, a good friend of mine, wanted me to identify a good location in Tiruvannamalai for the rehearsals of Aayiram Muthangaludan Thenmozhi, which I did. When he wanted me to look for a producer, I offered to produce the film. After finishing the movie we decided to sell it to producer Michael Royappan who has done Nadodigal as we are not familiar with distribution and other aspects. But I know this film will be a sure hit.
Director Shanmugaraj: We took more than a year for the rehearsals alone. We shot the whole film first using a handy cam. After corrections, we shot it on film. I have shot a song without showing the faces of the lead pair. I wanted my lyricist to write a song based on the Kamathupal in Tirukkural. He took 16 couplets from it and wrote a beautiful song, which was set to tune and picturised on the lead pair. I shot 62 scenes; each scene is a single shot. With all these experiments, I am confident the film will make it big at the box office.
Music director Tajnoor: I have done my best. A love story, the film shows how lovers behave when everything works in their favour and what happens when something goes wrong. This is my debut movie but even before its release I've been signed up for two more movies —Vamsam and Eththan. I have tried to recreate the aura of the Sangam Age. Hence I composed the music based on the seasons in the Kurinji, Mullai, Marutham, Neithal and Palai regions. I have mostly used violin, viola and cello to give life to the songs.
Hero Venkatesh: After finishing engineering, I joined ‘Alchemy,' an acting school. I've done a couple of advertisement films. I was selected for Aayiram… after passing a screen test conducted by director Shanmugaraj. This film was a learning experience for me.
