CASSETTE LAUNCH: The audio release of Renigunta

The cassette of Film Fabricators’ “Renigunta” was launched recently, and with a difference. Instead of the usual trailers, nearly 20 minutes of the film was screened, in addition to the songs.

Interestingly, Vijayakant, who had not attended film-related functions in a long while, released the audio. It was received by the guests present, including Silambarasan, Ameer, Hansraj Saxena, Lingusamy and K.S. Ravikumar.

Directed by R. Pannerselvam, an associate of director Lingusamy, the film has six songs. Music director Ganesh Raghavendra has done a good job with a mix of melodious and fast numbers. The best in the album is ‘Mazhai Peyyum’, written by Yugabharathi and sung by Harish Ragavendra. The singer mesmerises. Simbu has rendered the power-packed ‘Thallakulam’ written by Na. Muthukumar. Shreya Ghoshal is not at her best in ‘Kanne Kanmaniyae’, written by Na. Muthukumar. ‘Vizhigalilae’ written by Yugabharathi and sung by Bombay Jayshree reminds us of another number she’s sung. ‘Gandharvanin Kottai’ written by Piraisoodan and sung by Ranjitha is a sensuous number.

‘Vaazhkai…’, written by Na. Muthukumar, has been rendered so well by Vijay Yesudas that it reminds you he’s, after all, K.J. Yesudas’ son.
