Besides fire breathing dragons, Tormund Giantsbane’s beard and Jon Snow being the eye candy, one of the most interesting things about George RR Martin’s A song of Ice and Fire book series and it’s television counterpart, Game of Thrones are the fan theories that evoke a lot of connections that weren’t observed by viewers. Yes, it’s true that some theories might sound irrational. But hey, in a show that features resurrection, ice zombies and mystical creatures, there isn’t any room for being rational, right?

We’re already familiar with the R+L=J theory which at this point of time is confirmed. Jon's mother was finally revealed, and his true parentage, which is a lot more important than even his Stark roots. Let’s take a look at the other possible theories that might make their way into this fantasy series.

Samwell Tarly might be more central to the story than you think

The first episode of season 7 focused on Sam at the Citadel. He also discovered a heap of dragonglass at Dragonstone and tries to convey this to Jon as soon as possible. This theory suggests that he might pave the way to defeat the White Walkers.

Cersei, the mad queen

“They’re ashes now ,and we’re still flesh and blood” she fired back when she was told that they were the last of the Lannisters. She has no children left to protect and having a strong opponent like Daenerys Targaryen, she can go way ahead than what people can expect causing major damage with a cold heart like her’s.

The return of Lady Stoneheart

In the books, after her throat was slit at the Red wedding, Catelyn Stark’s body was thrown in the river and was later found by Nymeria, Arya’s abandoned direwolf. Beric Dondarrion who led the ‘Banners without the Brotherhood’ gave his life to her. It is said that she will execute anyone who is a supporter of the Boltons, Freys or Lannisters. She may make an appearance in the series this season.

The night’s king will be one of the dragon riders

Considering the season 7 poster featuring the dragon breathing out blue fire, this theory has a chance of being true because of the ‘Great War’ this season. This theory says that Viserion, one of Dany’s dragons will fall in the battle and will be resurrected as an ice dragon. If this is true, the Night’s king will be one of the riders.

Jon Snow is Azor Azhai aka the ‘warrior of light’

Well, Jon Snow knows nothing. But ,we do. He will be the one who will lead everyone against the White Walkers in the Great War say the fans.

Missandei is a faceless man

She is very wise for her age and seems to know everything being the keen observer that she is at that very moment.

Not one. But two Targaryens are still alive!

"If Robert finds out, he'll kill him, you know he will Ned. Promise me you'll protect him”, Lyanna whispered to Ned in order to protect her child. We all know that Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark are Jon’s parents. This means that Jon is a Targaryen and he is Daenerys’ nephew because she is Rhaegar’s baby sister. But until now, the only other Targaryens we had seen on the show were Viserys, Dany's big brother, and Aemon Targaryen, who was both their great-uncle and the maester of the Night's Watch, both are now dead, leaving Daenerys as the only living Targaryen that we knew of for sure until now.

Well, with all that’s been said and done, let’s cross our fingers and hope for the best person to take over the Iron Throne.
