Udupa Foundation, an initiative by the acclaimed ghatam player Giridhar Udupa, hosts a music festival with eminent line up of performers. The festival begins on February 16

Giridhar Udupa is a leading exponent of the ghatam and is a household name in classical music circles. The young musician has played with leading practitioners of Carnatic music and has also toured the world extensively for fusion and jugalbandi concerts. In 2015 he founded The Udupa Foundation, a registered charitable trust with the aim of promoting music, performing arts and culture. On February 16, 17 and 18, they present the second edition of the bi-annual Udupa Music Festival at Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Bangalore.

The festival will present eminent performers like Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Vid. Guru Karaikudi Mani, John McLaughlin, Vid. Shankar Mahadevan, Vid. Mysore Nagaraj, Vid. Yogesh Samsi, Pt. Vijay Ghate, Pt. Bhawani Shankar, Pt. Rahul Sharma, Vid. Selva Ganesh, Vid Mandolin U Rajesh, Gino Banks, Vid. Abhishek Raghuram, Sheldon Dsilva and Vid. Guru Prasanna.

The festival begins at 7 pm every evening.

On day 1, February 16, the festival will feature Shankar Mahadevan (vocal), John McLaughlin (guitar), Selva Ganesh (khanjira), U. Rajesh (mandolin), Gino Banks (drums) and Sheldon Dsilva (bass guitar). On February 17, there will be performances by Guru Karaikudi Mani (mridangam), Mysore Nagaraj (violin), Abhishek Raghuram (vocal), Yogesh Samsi on table and Guruprasanna on khanjira. On the final day, February 18, there will be santoor recital by Shivkumar Sharma and Rahul Sharma, tabla by Vijay Ghate and pakhawaj by Bhavani Shankar.
