Director Nageswar Reddy has teamed with Vishnu once again for Achari America Yatra , an entertainer that is due for release this Republic Day. Having worked in Dhenikaina Ready and Aado Rakam Veedo Rakam earlier, this project with Brahmanandam is raising a lot of expectation and curiosity. Ask the director how the idea germinated and whether he fears controversy for weaving a plot around a community and he says, “Once Dasari Narayana Rao wrote a story in a weekly magazine about an achari and I wanted to make a film on that idea but couldn’t. Now with Brahmanandam and Vishnu’s combination I’m going ahead. This is a beautiful title and will reach all. I put in a lot of effort and plenty of thinking went into it. I never hurt or humiliate anyone, the intention is to show the customs, language and traditions of acharis. The audience should be entertained and at the same time a community’s feelings should not be hurt.”
Brahmanandam played the role of Seema Sastry in Adurs and many EVV films. This is not new to him and he will be playing the title role here. On the plot, the director says, “ Shastram is a belief and western countries don’t believe in it (especially the number of people living there and not believing in it) is what I think, so I wrote the character based on that line. Achari doesn’t like leaving the country but Vishnu lies to him about something and at any costs wants him to go to America. The problems that Achari faces and the consequences thereon are hilarious. There is more to all that, it is about property and heroine Pragya Jaiswal.”
If the backdrop is different, it gives a contrast and an interesting feel. Just as the acharis turn factionists in Seema Sastry , here if they go to place where rituals and ceremonies are not given importance, problems arise and so does humour. Brahmanadam apparaently worked 45 days so one can expect the footage he gets in the story. The chemistry between Vishnu and the comedian rocks, says the director. Dialogues have been written by ‘Darling’ Swamy and Niwas and Vikram and Verma wrote the screenplay. “The protagonists in the story go to America to protect a girl. People shouldn’t find fault with the story or the language used,” says Nageswar Reddy.
