Visiting in-laws gives the jitters to many. If the woman finds it stressful to cope with the rules and regulations, the man usually feels a bit overwhelmed with the more than required attention. Dice Media, of Pocket Aces, has announced the launch of its much awaited web series What The Folks (WTF!), which will go live on Facebook and YouTube on August 17. With this show, the digital entertainment brand, which created 2016’s the Indian web series Little Things , brings the family ‘dramedy’ genre to Indian digital audiences.

What The Folks encapsulates the familial struggles of Nikhil, a young man who is forced to live alone with his in-laws for a few weeks. Nikhil’s bitter-sweet interactions with his in-laws provide for humorous situations that will be highly relatable to many young men. WTF is a journey of how modern families are breaking stereotypes, overcoming generation gaps, and growing to love one another, in spite of often having starkly different world views. Directed by two-time National Award winner, Ruchir Arun, the show has been written by Anand Bhardwaj and Ayesha Nair.

Sharing the reason for the idea of a series with that story line, Ashwin Suresh, founder, Pocket Aces says, “We have seen umpteen number of shows about the stereotypical daughter-in-law, so we thought that it would be interesting to put a twist on that and understand the experience of today’s modern Indian son-in-law.” Adding to this, Anirudh Pandita, Founder, Pocket Aces says, “What The Folks’ is a slice-of-life dramedy that every young person and their family will relate to. We wanted to capture the various moments of love, laughter, joy, and occasional dysfunction that we all face on daily basis.”

The series stars popular digital actor Veer Rajwant Singh as the son-in-law, Nikhil. Noted Film and television actors, Vipin Sharma of Gangs of Wasseypur and Taare Zameen Par fame and Deepika Amin who was seen in Fan , Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhaniya , who play the father-in-law and the mother-in-law respectively. Other key cast include Eisha Chopra and Anula Navlekar, who play Nikhil’s wife and sister-in-law respectively. The music in the series is scored by Neel Adhikari, a well-known independent musician.
