‘Vivegam’ half-time review: Shots fired, but where’s the target?

Till interval point, ‘Vivegam’ pretty much functions like an ordinary Tamil film based in an international milleu

Vivegam starts off with an intense action block. An illegal transaction is about to happen — and it takes an AK (Ajith Kumar) to stop it.

Despite three levels of security and guns blazing, he manages to do so. He’s like a “Phoenix bird”, as his friend Aryan (Vivek Oberoi) would later describe him.

AK’s job is to find people who can’t be found, and eliminate them. It’s a role any star would lap up — for, he can stay alive and kicking even as there’s bloodshed and bullets all around him.

Till interval point, Vivegam pretty much functions like an ordinary Tamil film based in an international milleu. There’s a blink and miss appearance from Akshara (which includes a high-octane chase sequence), and some bland comedy by Karunakaran. There’s a love story between AK and Yazhini (Kajal) that exudes warmth, but director Siva seems more interested in the action parts.
