It's a milestone year for both Thalapathy Vijay and AR Rahman — they both complete 25 years in the film industry. The two get together in upcoming film ‘Mersal’, the audio launch of which was held in a grand manner at the Nehru stadium in Chennai.

"Mersal is special for me. I admire director Atlee's confidence and his ability to execute things," said Vijay, even as thousands of his fans cheered him on, "I've given hits and blockbusters but what I've truly earned is my fans."

The actor advised his fans, saying, "Ignore all negativity. The two things that decide a person's fate are: his determination when he has nothing, and his attitude when he has everything."

"These are a new generation of fans," said Rahman, after performing a few numbers from the album for the first time, "I wish every one of you aspire for all the things we've written in the 'Aalaporan' song, be it humility or the way you treat women."

Director Atlee gets together with Vijay for the second time, after their hit ‘Theri’. Revealing that Vijay will be playing three roles, the filmmaker said, "Mersal will be a classy, commercial film about the Tamil identity."

A big-budget project, it features three heroines - Samantha, Kajal Aggarwal and Nithya Menen. ‘Mersal’ has been produced by Thenandal Studio Limited. This project is their 100th venture.
