Iranian director Majid Majidi, after showcasing Beyond the Clouds at the opening ceremony of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2017, said that the film had a universal appeal and hoped that “the subject resonates with audiences across the globe after its release.”

At a press conference at the IFFI media centre, the acclaimed filmmaker made it clear that the Beyond the Clouds was a vindication of his firm view that human emotions had no barriers of language and geography.

The cast and crew of the movie, including actors Ishaan Khatter and Malavika Mohanan and producers Punit Goenka, Shareen Mantri, Kishore Arora, Reza Tashakkori and Sujay Kutty attended the press conference along with Mr. Majidi.

The roots of Beyond the Clouds lie in human values, love, friendship and family bonding. It is the story of a brother and sister, just like that of Children of Heaven , with the difference being that the siblings are grown-ups and tackle greater conflicts, with the bustling city of Mumbai serving as the backdrop.

“Working with the exceptionally talented cast and crew of India has been an amazing experience,” said Mr. Majidi.

Said actor Malavika Mohanan: “When it comes to working with a filmmaker like Majid Majidi, there is nothing to think about. What he brings to the screen is simply outstanding. I am a lover of cinema and passionate about it. I would like to portray interesting roles on screen and something that would challenge me as an actor. It was a blessing.”
