‘Avengers: Infinity War’ trailer 2 — lots to unpack

If the trailer is anything to go by, Marvel might just have a movie on their hands that is well on its way to becoming an all-time classic.

With just about five weeks to go for the much-awaited release of Avengers: Infinity War , Marvel has released a new trailer, teasing us with a lot of information and hinting at, possibly, some deaths too.

The two-minute long trailer will get fans very excited as it shows groups of people across various movies and fandoms finally interacting with each other. Peter Quill and Gomorra team up with Iron Man and Spider-Man; Spider-Man dorkily introduces himself to Doctor Strange; we see more of Team Cap in Wakanda and yet, there's still so much to unpack.

Team Iron Man

In the previous trailer, we saw the Hulk crash landing in Doctor Strange's New York Sanctum and we know Bruce Banner, Strange, Wong and Tony Stark eventually team up. This trailer shows us that that team also meets with the Guardians.

The trailer opens with Gomorra warning the team about what would happen if Thanos gets his hands on all the infinity stones. "The entire time I knew him, he only ever had one goal. To wipe out half the universe," Gomorra says in a voiceover.

With Stark and Peter Parker suiting up immediately after Thanos' giant metal ring thingy appears in the sky, it looks like this crew might be the first line of defence against Thanos.

It also explains why they are bruised and battered, while the team in Wakanda is still in relatively okay shape.

Which brings us to..

Team Cap

At the end of Black Panther, we were shown that the Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier) was actually awake and more or less okay. The trailer first shows us T'Challa sending off Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff with a smile and a handshake, but if you look closely, there are also Banner, Vision, Wanda Maximoff, Sam Wilson (Falcon) and a now-walking James Rhodes (War Machine) along with the duo.

This send-off may or may not be interrupted by another invasion. We saw shots of the final battle in the first trailer, but this one really gives us a look into just how earth-shattering (maybe literally) it will get. The famed stealth shield that covers the whole of Wakanda looks like it might break, while the entire countryside gets ripped up.

Guardians of the Galaxy

In the beginning of the trailer, the Guardians look like they're at the Sanctum as well, presumably re-grouping after landing on Earth. But later, there is a shot of them walking out of their ship in what looks like Wakanda.

It also looks like Gomorra's relationship with Thanos might be an important plot point, as there are glimpses of a child Gomorra walking hand in hand with the Mad Titan in what looks like her home world.

While Gomorra, Quill and Drax confer with Stark and Parker, Groot and Rocket seem to be sticking with Thor, of whom we finally get a glimpse halfway through the trailer. In the very next shot, he's also in the middle of getting his head sort of crushed by Thanos, but we're going to come back to that later.

Thanos

In the earlier trailer, we saw, possibly, two members of Thanos's Black Order, with Corvus Glave attempting to prise the infinity stone off of Vision's head, while Proxima Midnight fought Rogers and Maximoff. We also saw Loki handing over the Tessract to Thanos and fans speculated whether or not Loki betrayed Thor again.

We might finally have an answer to that. In the shot that follows immediately after Thor's, we see Loki, at spearpoint, surrounded by members of the Black Order.

There is also another victim for Corvus Glave, after Vision - there are shots of Strange strung up, with giant needles poking into his face.

Notable deaths, maybe?

With Avengers: Infinity War , the contracts of three major actors in the franchise are up - Robert Downey Jr., who plays Stark, Chris Evans, who plays Captain America and Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor. Fans have been speculating for months on end about the exit of these characters and one way to do it would be to kill them off.

The trailer has plenty of hints for that, with Thor's moment with Thanos being just the tip of the iceberg. Both Rogers and Stark have personal run-ins with him. At one point, more than half of the Iron Man suit is destroyed in the battle, with Thanos saying, "I hope they remember you." Yikes.

Rogers, on the other hand, is trying with all his might to not to get crushed under the Titan's giant (pink? purple? magenta?) Infinity Gauntlet-clad hand. Thankfully, there are still only two stones on the Gauntlet at this point.

There is still one more Avengers movie to go though — the unnamed Infinity war Part 2 — so nothing is confirmed at this point.

Interestingly enough, both Scott Lang (Ant-Man) and Clint Barton (Hawkeye) are missing in the trailer. We know Lang lives, as there is Ant-Man and the Wasp up for release right after this film, but the Russo brothers have let it slip that Hawkeye will not be in the final battle. "Hawkeye's on his own journey in this movie," Digital Spy reported Joe Russo as saying. Maybe he's just back on his farm?

If this new trailer is anything to go by, Marvel might just have a movie on their hands that is well on its way to becoming an all-time classic. Wonder what part 2 might bring.

The film is scheduled for release on April 27. Watch the trailer here:
