An IFFI2015 Android smartphone app, designed and maintained by the New Media Wing of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, was launched on Wednesday at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) venue here.

The app, #IFFI2015, has features including film trailers, screening schedules, reminders of favourite movies and interactions with film-makers and celebrities.

The festival theme song Choi Choi, ami picture choi yaar in Konkani was released by C. Senthil Rajan, Festival Director. Ira Joshi, Assistant Director-General, Press Information Bureau, announced new initiatives being taken by the bureau for a seamless reach-out to film lovers across the globe. The highlight will be live streaming of press conferences on YouTube and posting of Q&A sessions on the Facebook page and Twitter handle of the PIB.

Amey Abhyankar, CEO of the State government-owned Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), said robust security arrangements had been made for the festival.

“Mobile Talkies” will roam the countryside of Goa showing films with the aim to connect the festival with the people in the hinterland.
