In a full-frontal attack on Rahul Gandhi, the BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Sunday ridiculed the Congress vice-president for his gaffes and suggested he could soon force a popular standup comedian to shut his shop.

While dismissing Mr. Gandhi’s allegations against Mr. Modi and his government, the Gujarat Chief Minister said Mr. Gandhi’s speeches were only of entertainment value.

“I heard Rahulji’s speech this morning and could not resist laughing hard. He said there is no Lokayukta in Gujarat and the day it comes the chowkidar (Modi) will go to jail. Let me tell you. There is a Lokayukta in Gujarat and the same Lokayukta in its report has indicted a former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Amarsinh Chaudhary, who belonged to the Congress,” Mr. Modi said at a rally in Jhansi.

“Since, the former chief minister is no longer alive, we did not take his name. We know how to give respect,” Mr. Modi added.

Continuing his jibes at Mr. Gandhi, “I think your mother's (Sonia Gandhi) advisor, with whom you do not get along well, is writing your speeches. Forget about the country, is this how you run the Congress,” Mr. Modi said.

“You have seen the Kapil Sharma comedy show on TV? Soon people will forget that and tune in to watch the Congress shehzada’s speeches for entertainment.”

Taking a dig at Mr. Gandhi’s alleged “false speeches” Mr. Modi said, “Rahul baba said that there are 27,000 crore posts vacant in Gujarat. But he doesn’t know that Gujarat’s population is only 6 crore!”

Mr. Gandhi's speeches are “so ridiculous that one could even find clips of his speech on Youtube. People will laugh when they hear that,” Mr. Modi said.

Attacking Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on his comments that there was no ‘Modi wave’, Mr. Modi said he could not spot the corruption and price rise in the country as he was could only see the mother-son duo, in a reference to Mr. Gandhi and his mother Ms. Gandhi, Congress chief.

Addressing a rally in Mahoba, Mr. Modi continued to train his guns on the Congress top two and said the Congress could not properly implement their flagship employment scheme MNREGA in their constituencies Amethi and Rae Bareli. So how could the party ensure its implementation across the country, Mr. Modi asked. Flaying the Samajwadi Party government for its law and order situation, Mr. Modi said there were more arms licenses in Uttar Pradesh than the number of families in the State.
