Rabri Devi files police complaint; says a black SUV followed her car, with those in it intent on killing her

Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad on Sunday threatened to file a complaint with the Election Commission after his wife Rabri Devi’s car was stopped by the police in the early hours of Sunday when they were returning to Patna from a roadshow in Saran. Ms. Rabri Devi — she is contesting from Saran, a seat her husband won in 2009 — has meanwhile filed a complaint with the Sonepur police, alleging that a black SUV tried repeatedly to overtake her car, with those in it intending to “either kill me or implant cash in my car.”

Saying that these were part of a conspiracy by “communal forces” to halt his resurgence, Mr. Prasad said he would complain to the Election Commission against the manner in which a woman candidate was harassed. It was a conspiracy by the communal forces to stop us. It was intentional. It is a serious issue. We’ll take it up with the EC.”

Rabri Devi on her part has filed a complaint with the Sonepur police station, alleging that a black SUV tried time and again to overtake her car with the motive of killing her.

Ms. Rabri Devi accused the police of stopping her car once the design of those in the SUV failed in their designs.

The police had checked her car earlier in the day, she said, wondering why it wanted to do so again.

The couple was campaigning together and while returning to Patna in the wee hours(Sunday) the police stopped Ms. Rabri Devi’c car near Shivbachan Chowk in Saran to inspect her car according to the police.
