As many as 2,041 polling booths have been set up in the Kolar Lok Sabha (reserved) constituency. Of them, 1,563 polling booths are in Kolar Revenue District and the remaining 478 booths come in two Assembly segments in Chickballapur district that comes under the Lok Sabha constituency.

As many as 3,444 EVMs will be used during polling in Kolar district.

According to Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer D.K. Ravi, all preparations are being made for free and fair polling and a number of programmes have been initiated to motivate voters to exercise their franchise.

With 19,435 people enrolling their names in the voters’ list, the total number of voters in the constituency stands at 14,92,987. Of them, 7,65,450 are male and 7,37,398 are female voters.

There are 139 ‘other’ voters and 2,142 service voters, Mr. Ravi said.

There were no undertrials eligible to exercise their franchise in the district. Sub-jail authorities had replied to a letter in this regard, Mr. Ravi said.

The need for more EVMS arose owing to more number of candidates. There are 22 candidates in the fray in the constituency. Each EVM accommodates up to 16 names, including the None Of The Above (NOTA) option, and hence two units were readied for each polling booth.
