Chairman of the People’s Conference (PC), Sajjad Lone said the National Conference (NC) and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) were holding sway in J&K politics because they managed to create a perception that they were pre-selected by the powers in Delhi.
“For the first time, that perception is being challenged by Mr. Modi who said there is a pact between the two to loot Jammu and Kashmir. People have begun to see through the politics of these two parties, which considered Jammu and Kashmir as their fiefdoms. Had the PM’s message come a year ago, they would have had no chance,” Mr Lone said in an exclusive interview to The Hindu.
Earlier, the people of Kashmir thought they had only the PDP and the NC to choose from but that perception has begun to change, Mr. Lone said. Sensing that the ground under their feet was moving, both parties are now helping each other to block any third party’s emergence, he said.
“In several constituencies, the NC and the PDP have asked people to help the other in order to defeat my candidates,” he said.
