Surviving Mars

Publisher: Paradox Interactive

Genres: Simulation Video Game, Strategy video

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to live on the planet Mars? This game will provide you the opportunity to find out, albeit, virtually. It is essentially a sci-fi city builder-style game where the objective is to colonise Mars and survive in the process. Players can choose from different space agencies that are spread across the map. These are the sources of resources and finances. Once this has been done, you can move on to developing and expanding your settlement, conducting researches and using drones to explore. An interesting fact is that the game has been modelled after real Martian data. It has been released for Microsoft Windows, OS X, Linux, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

BattleTech

Publisher: Paradox Interactive

Genres: Turn-based strategy

Developed by Harebrained Schemes, the game is set in the year 3025 where the galaxy is trapped in a cycle of an endless war between powerful noble houses who are seeking control of the Inner Sphere. The battles are fought with giant mechanised combat vehicles called BattleMechs (similar to the ones in Pacific Rim). These are operated by expert MechWarriors. In the game, players take control of their own mercenary unit and devise various strategic combat tactics to defeat the enemies. The base of operations and the BattleMechs need to be constantly upgraded. The interesting campaigns and amazing soundtracks will keep you hooked on to the game. It has been released for Microsoft Windows, OS X and Linux.

Featuring intense melee action sequences and adrenaline pumping missions, it is played from a first-person perspective. It also features a 4-player cooperative mode, five heroes to choose from and 15 different career paths. The game has been praised for the choice of weapons that are available and its levels. It has been released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
