Popping Popsicle

Materials:

    Paper cups

    Popsicle sticks

    Aluminium foil

    Juice

Steps:

1. Prepare your favourite drink or juice and keep it aside.

2. In paper cups (or popsicle moulds), pour in the prepared juice.

3. Cover the paper cups with foil, make holes in the centre and push the popsicle sticks through them. The foil will help keep the popsicle stick in place while it freezes.

4. Place the paper cups with the popsicle sticks carefully in the freezer. Let it freeze overnight or for a few hours.

5. Once frozen, take the paper cups out of the fridge and remove the foil.

6. Simply ‘pop’ the popsicle out of the cups by squeezing the sides gently and voila! A yummy popsicle to help beat off the summer heat.

You can also try changing it a bit by adding some fresh fruits to the juice. Or make a fudgesicle by combining nutella and bananas together and freezing it! It’s a guaranteed treat for everyone.

Hand Drum

Materials:

Tape

Cutter

Scissors

Beads

Cylindrical container

Pencil

Fevicol

Balloons

Ribbons

Steps:

1. Using a cutter and a pair of scissors, cut the cylindrical container such that the cut piece is approximately six to seven cm in height.

2. Poke a hole through the centre of any side of the cylinder, and insert a pencil into the hole. (It is important that the hole be made in the centre as it will ensure proper rotation of the hand drum)

3. Poke two holes on the cut piece in such a way that an imaginary line joining the holes is perpendicular to the pencil.

4. Insert a ribbon through one hole, and knot the end that is on the inside of the cylinder. Repeat the same for the other hole.

5. Slip a few beads onto one of the ribbons. When you stretch the ribbon across the open side of the cylinder, make sure that the beads can reach the centre. Knot the open end of the ribbon to ensure that the beads do not slip out.

6. Cut off the neck of the balloon with your scissor. Repeat for the second balloon.

7. Take the top part of the balloon and stretch it over the open side of the cylinder.

8. Secure the balloons with tape.

Your hand drum is ready.
