Singapore Airlines has offered discounts in Economy and Premier Economy class tickets to mark the introduction of its new Premium Economy cabin class that would be available on the Delhi and Mumbai routes starting from October 25, 2015 and January 2, 2016 respectively. For members of its frequent flyer programme, both existing and new, the discount is between Rs.5,000 and Rs.15,000 provided someone books at its road shows in Delhi and Mumbai.

Tickets in the Premium Economy class, which are 45 to 60 per cent costlier than economy class, are available on the Airbus A380 services from both Delhi and Mumbai to Singapore and onwards to Sydney, Hong Kong, Auckland, Frankfurt and Los Angeles, a top official of the airline said.

The Premium Economy Class, a category between Economy and Business Class, will be progressively introduced across the airline’s global network on 19 Airbus A380s, 19 Boeing 777-300ERs and the first 20 Airbus A350s.

This new class with seats having more leg space and recline is being introduced after a two-year development programme and an investment of about $80 million. “Our decision to introduce Premium Economy is in response to the feedback received from our customers which highlighted the increasing global acceptance for this new cabin class,” said David Lau, General Manager, India, Singapore Airlines, while unveiling the seats here.
