The rupee strengthened by 6 paise to Rs 45.84 against the US dollar in early trade at the Interbank Foreign Exchange today.

Dealers said a firm opening in the equity markets and dollar weakness against the euro supported the rupee sentiment.

The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex recovered by 124.30 points to 18,452.06 in early trade today.

The rupee had ended at a two—month low of Rs 45.90/91 a dollar in the previous session.
