Prices of thoor dal, urad dal, moong dal, gram dal, sugar and sooji increased, while that of wheat decreased at the wholesale foodgrain market here during the week that ended on Saturday.
Urad dal prices saw a steep increase of Rs. 1,000 per quintal on Monday from its last week’s closing rate of Rs. 13,500. It opened the week at Rs. 14,500 and the price again increased next day by Rs. 300 followed by a hike of Rs. 200 on Wednesday. It closed the week at Rs. 15,000.
Moong dhal gets dearer
The price of moong dal also saw an increase of Rs. 300 per quintal on Monday from its previous closing rate of Rs. 10,500.
The price rise continued on Tuesday and Wednesday also by Rs. 200 and Rs. 800, respectively and closed the week at Rs. 11,800.
Thoor dal opened the week at Rs. 15,000, an increase of Rs. 500 per quintal from its last week’s closing of Rs. 14,500.
Its price again increased on Tuesday by Rs. 200 and on Wednesday by Rs 300 to close the week on Saturday at Rs. 15,500. Gram dal opened the week at Rs. 6,400, an increase of Rs. 100 per quintal from its previous rates of Rs. 6,300. Its price increased again on Tuesday by Rs. 200 to finish the week at Rs. 6,600.
Sugar rate slightly up
Sugar marginally increased by Rs. 10 per quintal to Rs. 2,900 from Rs. 2,890 and remained steady at Rs. 2,900 till the close on Saturday.
Sooji (90 kg) was up by Rs. 200 to Rs. 3,200 from its previous rates of Rs. 3,000 and closed the weekend at Rs. 3,200.
Wheat price decreased Rs. 50 per quintal to Rs. 2,900 from Rs. 2,950 to close the week at the same opening rate of Rs. 2,900.
Maida(90 kg) at Rs. 2,500 ruled steady throughout the week.
