Zinc down in futures trade on global cues

March 20, 2012 02:06 pm | Updated 02:06 pm IST - New Delhi

Zinc futures prices fell by 0.19 per cent on Tuesday as speculators trimmed their positions in tandem with a weakening trend in global markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in March traded 20 paise, or 0.19 per cent, lower at Rs 103.40 per kg, with a turnover of 465 lots.

The metal for delivery in April fell by similar margin to Rs 104.45 per kg, with a business turnover of 51 lots.

Market analysts said reports of a weakening trend in the base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) mainly put pressure on the zinc prices at futures trade here.

Meanwhile, zinc fell 0.3 per cent to USD 2,071.25 a tonne on the LME.
