Singapore shares tumbled about 3.7 per cent Monday as stock selling intensified on fears of a global economic crisis following the downgrading of the U.S. credit rating.
The key Straits Times Index dropped 110.78 points to 2,884.00. It had hit a low of 2,847.00 by midday, down nearly 5 per cent. Losers led gainers by 645 to 78.
