Rupee appreciated 15 paise to 67.33 against the US dollar in early trade on increased selling of the American currency by bankers and exporters.

Moreover, weakening of dollar overseas against other currencies also supported the domestic currency, dealers said.

Gain in the stock market in early trade also helped rupee strengthen against the dollar, they added.

On Wednesday, the rupee had ended flat at 67.48 against the US dollar on fag-end selling of the greenback by bankers and exporters in view of a weak dollar in overseas markets.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex recovered 47.92 points or 0.17 per cent to trade at 26,813.57 in early trade.
