December 22, 2011 10:43 am | Updated 10:43 am IST - Mumbai

The rupee fell by 32 paise to trade at Rs 52.82 per dollar on Thursday as the U.S. currency firmed against euro and other rivals overseas.

A weak opening in the domestic equity markets also impacted the rupee sentiment, dealers.

Dollar gains against euro and other currencies overseas on doubts about solving the euro zone debt crisis too weighed on the rupee, they added.

The rupee had gained 37 paise to close at more than one-week high of Rs 52.50/51 per US dollar on Wednesday following a sharp rebound in domestic stocks.

Meanwhile, the BSE benchmark Sensex was down by 193.41 points, or 1.23 per cent, at 15,491.80 in opening trade today.
