Comeback keeps market agog

Analysts and market watchers feel the fortunes of Infosys have steadily eroded, and the main reason has been the absence of a leader of Narayana Murthy’s stature. The return of Mr. Murthy would not only invigorate the company but also provide it direction and focus.

This is what the market has been waiting for the last year, analysts said.“It’s a positive move, and we should see stock prices moving up. However, it’s a reconfirmation that it was facing difficult times and needed a strong leader,” said Ambareesh Baliga, Managing Partner, Global Wealth Management, Edelweiss Financial Services.

“Markets view this move positively,” said Motilal Oswal, Chairman and Managing Director, Motilal Oswal Securities.

“We know the contribution of Mr. Murthy to Infosys and with his vast experience, I am sure it is a great move to bring him back,” said Mr. Oswal, adding that the “stock market will welcome this development and stock price is likely to move up.”
