March 11, 2010 11:55 pm | Updated 11:55 pm IST - KOLKATA:

Dunlop India Chairman Pawan Ruia has said that he would clear the payment arrears of the 436 employees who had taken early retirement at the Sahagunj unit by December.

He said this after a meeting with the State Labour Minister, Anadi Sahu, at the Secretariat. The arrears amounting to around Rs. 12 crore would be cleared by settling the dues of 50 employees every month, he said. He also said that the 1,007 employees now employed at the Sahagunj unit would see a 10 per cent wage increase from April as per contractual terms.

He also told the Minister that of the 25 employees against whom disciplinary action had been taken last year, 20 have been absorbed but were not allowed to enter the factory premises. Nothing could be done about the remaining five till the criminal cases pending against them were disposed off.
