The third unit of Tata Power’s Ultra Mega Power Project (UMPP) at Mundra in Gujarat has been synchronised with the grid.
The Mundra project is being implemented by Tata Power’s wholly-owned subsidiary Coastal Gujarat Power Limited (CGPL).
The company had commissioned Unit-1 of Mundra UMPP in March 2012, and Unit-2 in July 2012.
“This is a significant milestone given the critical power shortage situation in the country. We eagerly await a viable solution regarding the power supplied to the beneficiary States by the CERC, so that this plant becomes a benchmark for other power plants in future,” Anil Sardana, Chairman-CGPL and Managing Director, Tata Power, said. “With synchronisation of Unit-3, the thermal power generation capacity stands at 6,047 MW, and generation through hydro, wind and solar stands at 852 MW,” the company said.
