MTS sets up data centre

MTS, the mobile telephony services brand of Sistema Shyam Teleservices (SSTL), announced on Thursday the launch of its green data centre in Chennai. Addressing presspersons here after inaugurating the centre, Vsevolod Rozanov, President and CEO, SSTL, said the data centre, spread over 17,000 sq. ft. with enhanced hosting capabilities, was poised to add top edge technical advantage to all MTS services to customers. He said MTS was planning to launch more such data centres and the next one would come up in Noida.

According to Rajeev Batra, Chief Information Officer, SSTL, the centre, with state-of-the-art infrastructure, would ensure high availability in data management and mission-critical applications. MTS has secured over four million subscribers in the telecom services in India. Globally its subscriber base was more than 100 million, Mr. Batra said.

MTS has appointed K. Sunil as Chief Operating Officer of Tamil Nadu and Kerala circle. Earlier he has worked in various capacities in Etisalat India, Vodafone Essar and Reliance Infocomm.
