Engineering and construction company Larsen & Toubro today said it has bagged an order worth Rs 6,897 crore from Maharashtra State Power Generation (Mahagenco) for manufacturing turbine generator units.

The company has received the order for manufacturing 3x 660 MW super-critical turbine generator units, L&T said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The scope of work includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, commissioning of super-critical boilers and civil and architectural work, the filing added.

L&T’s advanced supercritical thermal sets would ensure higher plant efficiencies and lower greenhouse gas emissions, thus introducing a new and green era of environment friendly power generation, it said.

The Rs 6,897-crore order from Maharashtra State Power Generation follows a Rs 4,000 crore order received weeks earlier from Jaypee Industries for 2x600 MW supercritical equipment, it added.
