iGATE Corporation, an integrated technology and operations company, has inaugurated the Phase-I of its eco-friendly global delivery facility in Chennai. The new facility located in the special economic zone at DLF IT Park, Chennai, will be an extension to the company’s existing two global delivery facilities in the city. The Chief Executive Officer of iGATE Corporation, Phaneesh Murthy, told reporters here on Wednesday that the company had spent over Rs. 10 crore to set up this green centre.

Mr. Murthy said the new concept of ‘go green’ facility was estimated to cut down energy by 15 per cent in the air-conditioning systems. The entire facility would be 30 per cent more efficient compared to the normal office premises. However, the cost incurred to set up such a green facility would be 60 per cent more than the conventional office space.

iGATE Chennai had nearly 900 people working in its two facilities and now it planned to recruit 540 people for its new facility. The centre would predominantly concentrate on media and entertainment vertical. The BFSI (banking, financial services and insurance) vertical had been contributing nearly 55 per cent of iGATE’s total revenue and now the company was seeing a new scope in the media and entertainment vertical along with health vertical. The company had so far signed seven clients in the media and entertainment vertical.
