As part of its global decision, German luxury automaker BMW will start recalling 3,422 units of 5 and 6 Series cars in India within a month to replace a faulty battery cable cover.

“We will get the replacement parts for these 3,422 cars within a month and will accordingly inform our customers,” a BMW India spokesperson said.

The company will replace the battery cable cover in 5 and 6 Series cars, which were produced between 2007 and 2010, he added. “These all cars are old versions of the two models. Out of these, the 5 Series were assembled at our Chennai plant in India, while the 6 Series cars were imported,” the official said.

The spokesperson, however, said the company has not received any complaint about any defect related to the cable cover and is changing the parts under the global exercise.

“The parts will be replaced free of cost and it will not take more than 30 minutes for a customer,” he added.
