Bharti Airtel on Friday reported a 13 per cent increase (year-on-year) in its net profit at Rs. 2,321 crore for the second quarter of the current fiscal against Rs. 2,046.30 crore, while its consolidated revenue grew by 9 per cent to Rs. 9,845.50 crorefrom Rs. 9,020.30 crore. Its overall subscriber base at the end of the quarter stood at 11.34 crore as it added 82.44 lakh new users in the quarter.
In the first half of 2009-10, total revenue stood at Rs. 19,787.10 crore against Rs. 17,503.60 crore, up 13 per cent year-on-year, while the net profit went up by 19 per cent to Rs. 4,837.70 crore from Rs. 4,071.30 crore.
In a statement, Bharti Airtel Chairman and Managing Director Sunil Mittal said: “We have once again demonstrated strong fundamentals and its resilience. We continue to maintain our market leadership position in the mobile segment, despite ever-increasing competitive intensity.
