Consumer electronics major Samsung on Monday appointed B. D. Park as President and CEO of its South West Asia Operations and Managing Director of India operations.
Mr. Park, who was head of Samsung India's mobile and IT division, succeeds Jung Soo Shin, who will move to company's headquarters in South Korea.
In his new role, Mr. Park will oversee the entire operations of Samsung India Electronics Pvt. Ltd. and all its other establishments in India, besides taking care of the company's operations in the SAARC Region.
Under Mr. Park's leadership, Samsung has emerged as a market leader in the fast growing smartphone market in India, with its market share in mobiles growing from six per cent in 2008 to over 30 per cent today.
“It will be my endeavour to leverage the synergies of the existing Samsung businesses in India to ensure stronger growth for the company in this region,” Mr. Park said in a statement.
