Apple iPhone 4S now available in India

The wait for grabbing Apple's latest smartphone ‘iPhone 4S' is over as two leading mobile operators — Bharti Airtel and Aircel — will make the two popular phones available from Thursday midnight. While iPhone 4S 16 GB model has been priced at Rs.44,500, the 32 GB and 64 GB handsets come with price tags of Rs.50,900 and Rs.57,500, respectively. Pre-booking for the latest iPhone models began on November 18.

In the U.S., retail prices of iPhone 4S at the launch in October this year was $199 (around Rs.10,000) for the 16 GB model; $299 (around Rs.15,000) for the 32 GB model; and $399 (around Rs.20,000) for the new 64 GB model. And within three days of its launch, Apple had sold over 40-lakh handsets.The ‘iPhone 4S' comes with a 3.5-inch, 960 x 640-pixel widescreen multi-touch retina display. It is powered by a dual-core A5 chip processor and loaded with the new operating system — iOS 5 — that offers faster web browsing and enhanced gaming experiences. Its 8-MP camera has a larger aperture, a custom lens, advanced hybrid infrared filter and face detection feature. A key element in the iPhone 4S is a “voice assistant” called ‘Siri' that can be used to make phone calls, send messages, schedule meetings and set reminders.
