Alcatel-Lucent on Wednesday said it was in talks with various Indian companies to deploy infrastructure for high-speed mobile broadband services, whose auction was conducted recently.
“Broadband wireless access (BWA) market opportunity is immense. I believe these networks will start going up by the end of this year or early next year. We will play a major role in infrastructure deployment and are discussing it with some BWA spectrum winners, including Reliance Industries and Tikona Digital Networks,” Alcatel-Lucent's newly-appointed head of India operations Munish Seth told journalists here. Mr. Seth has taken over from Vivek Mohan, who now heads the company's global services business.
Referring to LTE technology, Alcatel-Lucent's President for the Asia-Pacific region Rajeev Singh-Molares said it would be most cost effective technology for the operators. LTE provides high performance radio-access technology that offers full vehicular speed mobility.
