US-based start-up Cohesity, a technology provider of converged secondary storage solution on Tuesday announced the launch of its India operations. The company also announced the appointment of Google-alum Apurv Gupta as the Head of Engineering for Cohesity India.

As part of its growth plans the company also said it will invest $10 million in India and will hire 25 people. The company was founded in June 2013 by Mohit Aron, an alumnus of IIT-Delhi. Prior to Cohesity, Mr. Aron had founded the infrastructure company Nutanix and served as its CTO before leaving to build the current venture.

“We believe India offers a great opportunity for us. The availability of top notch talent in India is also an opportunity for us,” said Cohesity CEO, Mohit Aron.

Cohesity has so far raised around $70 million including a Series A round of around $15 million led by Sequoia Capital and Wing Venture Capital, followed up a $55 million Series B investment round led by ARTIS Ventures and Qualcomm Incorporated, through its venture investment group, Qualcomm Ventures, with additional investment from Accel Partners, Battery Ventures, Google Ventures, and Trinity Ventures.

The additional funding will help Cohesity scale its engineering, sales, and marketing teams to ramp up ahead of the general release of the Cohesity Data Platform.
