German luxury car manufacturer Audi on Thursday launched A8 L Security sedan, dubbed as “the most secure Audi ever,” starting at Rs. 9.15 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The car satisfies the criteria of the class VR 9 ballistic protection standard, currently the most stringent requirements for civilian high-security sedans, Audi India said in a statement.

‘Only such luxury sedan’

Commenting on the launch, Audi India Head Joe King said: “The Audi A8 L Security assumes a unique position in its segment. Its quattro drive makes it the only luxury sedan with an all-wheel drive system that is offered directly from Audi as an armoured high-security vehicle.”

With high aluminium content in the body, the vehicle’s weight is relatively low.

“It can handle a maximum payload of 600 kg, which is the best figure in the competitive field,” Mr. King added.

Standard security features

The new Audi A8 L Security, which is available for order now, has standard security features such as armoured communication box in luggage compartment, selective door unlocking, fire extinguishing system and emergency fresh air system, among others.
