VSP records highest sales turnover

Improvement in some of the techno-economic parameters also achieved

Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd., the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, achieved the highest sales turnover of Rs.3,733 crore till July in the current fiscal. RINL achieved total sales volume of Saleable Steel of 8.28 lakh tonnes up to July this year, against 6.18 lakh tonness during the same period last year, representing a growth of 34 per cent. With this, the sales turnover during the period (April-July, 2011) rose to a high of Rs. 3733 crore against Rs. 2372 crore, representing an impressive growth of 57 per cent, a spokesman of the VSP said on Wednesday. MOU targets were surpassed with regard to fulfilment of sales turnover during the period.

Sales volume

RINL registered a sales volume of 6.40 lakh tonnes of Value Added Steel (VAS) against 4.70 lakh tonnes during the same period, for a growth of 36 per cent. Project Sales of 2.02 lakh tonnes was achieved during the period against 1.49 lakh tonnes, representing a growth of 36 per cent.

Major thrust was given to rural marketing and 10 new rural dealers were registered during the month, with this the total Rural Dealers increased to 41 during April-July 2011. Improvement in some of the techno-economic parameters were also achieved which included record Convertor Lining Life of 5526 Heats from Convertor-A in Steel Melt Shop, the best for this Convertor since inception. The Billet Production of 1,83,544 tons in July is also the best for any July since inception.

RINL continued to excel in production, expansion and marketing areas during July, 2011. Several auxiliary units were commissioned during the month which involved 45 per cent of the cost of expansion programme ahead of integrated commissioning of major units like Blast Furnace, Steel Melt Shop and Rolling Mills etc. Innovative and advanced technologies are being adopted in expansion programme to contain cost of production, the spokesman said.
