Vijaya Bank Q2 net up 5.5%

Vijaya Bank, on Friday, posted a 5.53 per cent increase in net profit at Rs.143.75 crore for the July-September quarter against increased by 5.53 per cent to Rs.143.75 crore compared to a year ago. The net profit for the September 2013 quarter was Rs.136.20 crore in the same quarter in the previous fiscal.

Total income grew by 15.64 per cent to Rs.3,253.75 crore from Rs.2,813.60 crore.Interest income increased by 14.62 per cent for the said quarter. Gross NPA was at 2.85 per cent and net NPA at 1.88 per cent.

Chairman and Managing Director V. Kannan said corporate borrowing had fallen as fewer investments were happening.
