VE Commercial Vehicles set to export trucks

July 16, 2014 11:41 pm | Updated 11:41 pm IST - BANGALORE:

VE Commercial Vehicles Ltd. (VECV), a joint venture between the Volvo group and Eicher Motors, is getting ready to export light and medium duty trucks in whose research and development teams of various Volvo partners across the world were involved.

“It will be a credible thing for Eicher to be on the footprint of Volvo manufacturing map,” said Shyam Maller, senior vice president (sales and marketing) of VECV. The vehicles, from the Pithampur plant in Madhya Pradesh, will be exported either under the Eicher name or in a brand relevant to that market.

The first set of prototype was being sent, he said, at an event here on Tuesday to announce the Karnataka launch of Pro 1000 and 3000 series trucks developed and manufactured as a result of the synergistic working between the Volvo group and Eicher. Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia were the potential export markets, he added.
