TVS Motor ‘races’ to sell five lakh Apaches this fiscal

Rolls out second variant in sports segment within a week

TVS Motor Co. Ltd.is planning to sell five lakh Apache series bikes this fiscal, said a top executive of the company. On Wednesday, the company rolled out the new TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. Last week, it unveiled the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V race edition.

“Apache is the second largest brand in the sports segment,” said K.N. Radhakrishnan, president and CEO, TVS Motor. “It is a fully engineered, designed and made in India bike. Currently, we are selling 33,000 motorbikes in the domestic market and 8,000 units in export markets.” “We are delighted that Apache is the most loved brand by racing enthusiast. We are growing at 25%,” he said. The new 160cc bike is born of the six-time Indian national motorcycle racing championship winning motorcycle (Group B RTR 165) and gets the 4-valve, oil-cooled engine that offers the best-in-class performance.

It also boasts of a patented double-cradle split synchro stiff frame design and will compete with the likes of Bajaj Pulsar NS 160, Suzuki Gixxer and Honda CB Hornet 160 R.

“It is testimony to the racing legacy of the TVS Apache RTR series. It is the most powerful 160cc motorcycle in India and embodies the latest racing technology with best-in-class performance,” he said.

TVS Apache RTR 160 Fi 4V comes with both rear and front disc brakes, while the carburettor motorcycle is available in disc and drum brake variants. Other features of the bike include fully-digital speedometer, aggressive headlamp, sharp tail, and chequered flag decals on the tank. The bike is available in racing red, metallic blue and knight black.

All the new variants are priced upwards of ₹81,490 (ex-showroom New Delhi).
