The world of IT and automobiles go hand-in-hand, according to former Defiance Tech CEO Subu D. Subramanian, who recently joined IT major Cognizant to strengthen the company’s automotive and manufacturing verticals.
“There are three broad trends in the IT and automotive space. Firstly, the products [cars] are becoming more intelligent. Secondly, manufacturing is becoming digital. And thirdly, the cars themselves are being designed through IT. Cognizant is looking to beef up its manufacturing vertical, and I will advise them on all these three things,” Mr. Subramanian said, in an interaction with The Hindu on Thursday.
Mr. Subramanian had quit Defiance Technologies, a Hinduja Group company, last October, along with most of the other company executives.
EntrepreneurshipMr. Subramanian’s medium-to-long term plans, however, include dabbling in entrepreneurship, a decision that has become popular with many high-level IT executives.
“In Cognizant, I am purely going to be in a consulting and advisory role. I firmly believe that the future is entrepreneurship and hope to start a company that combines IT and healthcare. It is in the ideation stage right now. This will probably be after a year or so, however,” he said.
