Speciality Restaurants to go global

March 19, 2013 11:51 pm | Updated 11:51 pm IST - KOLKATA:

Listed fine-dining chain Speciality Restaurants Ltd. (SRL) is mulling an overseas entry through joint ventures with local outfits, a company executive said.

The foray is likely to start with Singapore, followed by London and the U.S., according to the official. “We are keen on getting into a world play and emerging as a global brand,” the official said. The first such roll out is likely to be completed by mid-2013-14, it is learnt.

The Oh! Calcutta brand is to be used for the international foray, which would be either through property joint ventures or through operating joint ventures. The flagship brand Mainland China contributes 60 per cent of SRL’s revenues, followed by Oh Calcutta. It has five other brands.

The company, which went public last year, has 96 outlets in 26 cities.

New vertical

Anjan Chatterjee, Managing Director, who was here to announce the launch of a new vertical for outdoor catering ‘Mobifeast’, said that the growing list of satisfied corporate clients along with the very large wedding market had prompted the company to plan this business in a big way.
