Ruia hopes to reopen Dunlop soon

Ruia Group chairman Pawan Ruia on Saturday expressed hope that his company Dunlop would reopen soon before Durga Puja as meetings with the concerned parties have been “very positive”.

“I was hoping that Dunlop will open before Jessop. There have been three meetings that were very positive. The government too is very eager to open Dunlop. The ice has melted in those meetings. It might be that before Durga Puja Dunlop will reopen too,” Mr. Ruia said at the sidelines of the reopening of Jessop factory.

“I certainly feel that the government is trying to revive other industries just as it did in the case of Jessop.

Gradually the situation might improve for Bengal. There are lots of negative perceptions about industries here. New industries won’t come up in a day or month, it takes time,” Mr. Ruia said.

The tyre manufacturing company closed down Dunlop in 2009.
